• Look at the type of child you have and match the theme to he's personality. If he's not a sporty child and is a little quieter maybe a Harry Potter theme would suit. On the other hand if he is a boisterous child go for adventure theme say a Pirate theme where there is a lot of running around with swords.
• Girl's parties can do similar personality themes using Fairies and Tinkerbelle for quieter party kids. But after having a party of ten little girls squealing and laughing I have changed my mind now that even the quietest kids squeal!
• It is really important to pick the right theme matched to gender and personality as if this isn't right you may have kids that think they are too grown up to get involved.
• With the theme get the kids involved in decorating the room where the party will be, this is half the fun, for boys having a pirate theme the obvious choice would be a flag with skull and cross bones.
